Thank you for the newsletter, it looks like the department
is continuing to grow. I apologize for the mix up in the email address, the
past couple of years have moved by to quickly and not leaving me much time to
keep in touch. As you could probably tell I am no longer with Marsh
Technologies, Inc. we finished the development of the fishing reel and moved it
to production in Macon, MO where it has been doing very well (visit at www.ardentoutdoors.com) I continued at
Marsh for about 8 months after the completion of the fishing reel as a Project
Engineer for a metal injection molding induction sintering furnace. The furnace
had a 125 kW power supply that would energize an 8 foot long copper coil, and
by inductance heat up a graphite tube inside of the coil. I wish I had pictures
of this project but unfortunately I do not. Once the furnace was delivered I
left Marsh Technologies, Inc due to lack of projects being taken on by the
company.
In January of '06 I accepted a job as
project engineer for a company out of St.
Louis called Essex PB&R Corp. The company
manufactures protective breathing and rescue equipment (visit at www.smokehoods.com). Over the last year
and a half we have been working on three new products, a Self Contained Escape
Respirator (SCER) for Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear and Smoke and
fire protection, the PLUS 15 which is a filtering escape hood for protection
against smoke and fire (visit at www.plus15filter.com)
and finally a back up respirator for fire fighters in case of an out of air
emergency or SCBA malfunction (visit at www.lastchancefilter.com). The PLUS
15 we currently have submitted to England for our CE mark and EN 403
Certification, while I sit on the ANSI committee here in the states to
establish a North American standard to regulate and certify protective escape
hood similar to the PLUS 15. The PLUS 15 has recently been put into production.
The Last Chance Rescue Filter is having its final testing and work done to it
before it moves to production. Its final verification test will be done on
Sept. 27 where we are performing a live burn with Yale School of Emergency
Medicine and ConnetiCOSH where we will have a fire
fighter perform a change over from his SCBA to the Last Chance unit inside the
fire. Well I think that is enough rambling. Hope to see you at home coming.
Best Wishes,
Mike Hill
